The 115 million-year-old predatory dinosaur Nigersurus, existed in the Republic of Niger, a tiny West African republic. So, how did this one-of-a-kind dinosaur appear in its prime? And how did it come to be discovered? So, here’s a quick rundown on the fabled dinosaur with 500 teeth.
Nigersaurus was initially reported in a study paper by Phillippe Taquet in 1976. During a trip to the State of Niger in 1965-1972, this French paleontologist uncovered the remains for the first time. However, because there was no entire skeletal, the discovery was frequently overlooked.
Near 1999, Paul Sereno, an American paleontologist from Chicago University, led an excursion to the Elrahz Group in Gadoyfaoua, Niger. He discovered the bones of this tyrannosaur in its entirety. In 2007, Sereno and his colleague Jeffrey A. Wilson published another paper on the Nigersaurus skull and feeding behavior. He also gave the National Geographic Institution in Washington a complete model kit of the dinosaur’s skull.

Other fossils connected to this 500-toothed dinosaur have also been identified in Brazil. However, a full fossil has yet to be discovered.
